# Guardians: fixed rules that keep your AI on track

> Guardians are fixed-rule checks on every request between your AI and your apps. No AI model, no guessing, and they always tell you when they act.

Every request you make crosses the bridge: from you, to your AI, out to your apps, and back. Arora's job is to make sure everything that crosses arrives intact and safe. Guardians are how it does that.

## A different kind of agent

Most AI agents think. They read, weigh options, and decide. That's useful, but it also means they can get things wrong, skip a step, or behave differently on a busy day.

A Guardian doesn't think. It enforces.

* **One rule, one job.** Each Guardian watches one crossing point on the bridge and enforces one rule there.
* **Every request, no exceptions.** Guardians sit directly in the path. Nothing gets around them, and they don't take days off.
* **The same result every time.** Guardians are plain, predictable code. No AI model, no guessing, no mood. Same input, same outcome.
* **Never silent.** When a Guardian steps in, it says so. Your AI is told what happened, so you are too.

The idea in one line: **people set the rules, and Guardians make sure they're followed, every time.** AI agents work within those rules. Guardians are what keep them there.

## Why this matters to you

AI is powerful and unpredictable. Guardians are the opposite: boring, reliable, and always on. You get the flexibility of AI for the work, and the certainty of fixed rules for the things that must never go wrong, like losing data, leaking credentials, or acting without your approval.

You don't set Guardians up or switch them on. They're already standing watch on every account.

## Meet the Guardians

> [card] [Heimdall](https://docs.aroramcp.com/guardians/heimdall.md)
>
> Guards everything coming back from your apps. Big results are saved whole instead of cut off, and credentials never reach your AI.

More Guardians already stand watch over other crossings, like approvals for actions that can't be undone and sign-in to your account. They'll get their own pages here soon.

## Why the names

Arora is named for the aurora borealis. In Norse myth, the bridge of light between worlds is the Bifröst, and it has a watchman. Our Guardians take their names from that story, because that's their job: standing watch on the bridge.
